The Egang Riser Waste Heat Recovery Project, launched in 2022 at Echeng Steel’s Coking West Zone, overcame technical challenges in recovering high-temperature crude gas waste heat from coke ovens, achieving annual savings of 9,100 tons of standard coal and reducing CO₂ emissions by over 24,000 tons. Utilizing internationally leading thermal oil circulation technology, it efficiently captures 800°C waste gas, boosting steam output by 30% and generating annual economic benefits exceeding ¥10 million. Recognized as a Hubei Provincial Green Factory demonstration project, its modular design and intelligent control systems have been replicated by industry leaders like Baosteel and Maanshan Steel, empowering the sector’s low-carbon transition. The project also supports Ezhou City’s ecological governance and was listed as a provincial green and low-carbon, driving the steel industry’s contribution to China’s dual-carbon goals.
